Salt Creek / McQuaid Loop
The Salt Creek / McQuaid Loop allows bikers to experience some more of the pristine singletrack trails weaving along the foothills of the Mosquito Range. Starting at Forest Road 435 just off of Highway 285, this 13-mile loop is one of the easier trails to get to. Yet, since it is far from the very-popular Colorado Trail to the north, it remains a relatively undiscovered ride, which is unfortunate since this trail offers such an abundant mix of terrains and scenic views. Routinely done in the clockwise direction, riders begin with a punishing climb on Salt Creek Road, jump onto the Salt Creek singletrack trail, connect onto Forest Road 433, and then return back on more singletrack via the McQuaid Trail. Overall, roughly half of the loop is singletrack and the other half is jeep trails. The ride is only technically moderate, and the 1900' of total climbing make for an easier ride which can be done in half a day.
Start at the junction of FR 435 and the McQuaid Trail #631.
